Household Pets
Household pets are bringing back a piece of nature and life into our often urbanized
environment and into our hearts. Not always for the good of the animals. Looking after
them in the wrong way can lead to behavioural disorders. Owners grow tired of their pets,
abandon them or often unload them on an animal shelter with some flimsy excuse. The animal
shelters of the SAP Sections try to find new homes for these animals in an appropriate
environment. The SAP and its Sections provide comprehensive advice in an attempt to avoid
such suffering for the animals in the first place, informing future pet-owners about the
needs and requirements of the animals they are thinking of having so that master and pet
can live together in harmony.
Wild animals
Also animals living in the wild need our consideration and protection. Through educational
activities, advice and active commitment, Swiss Animal Protection SAP campaigns for wild
animals. Besides combating the keeping of wild animals on fur farms, it calls for the
keeping of animals in their natural environment and for fair treatment of animals in zoos
and wildlife parks, in circuses and travelling animal shows.
Farm animals
Swiss Animal Protection SAP campaigns for farm animals also to have the right to being
kept in their natural environment and to be treated with care through advice and
information for progressive animal keepers, through its monitoring service for raising
animals in their natural environment and through a new Animal Protection Law. |
